Tutorials Track

ICPE enhances the experience of attending researchers and industry practitioners through a Tutorial Track comprising tutorials presented by leading scientists and practitioners in areas of relevance for the ICPE community. Topics of interest include but are not limited to, performance measurement, performance modeling, benchmarking, and run-time performance management of complex systems of all types.

Proposals are sought for tutorials at introductory, intermediate, and advanced skill levels, that span either a full day (6 hours, two breaks included), or a half-day (3 hours, one break included).

The ICPE tutorials will be organised on April 15 and 16, 2023.

Proposal guidelines

The tutorial proposals (maximum 5 pages) should describe concisely the content, importance and timeliness of the tutorial. Each proposal should include the following information:

  • Title
  • 150 to 200-word abstract describing the tutorial and its objective(s); the abstract should be suitable for advertising the tutorial on the conference website
  • Contact information (name, e-mail, affiliation) and a brief biography (up to 200 words) of the presenter(s). The biography should include a summary of the presenters’ experience in giving other tutorials, courses, etc. in the area
  • Proposed duration (half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours))
  • Intended audience skill level (beginner, intermediate or advanced) and any prerequisite knowledge required
  • Outline of the tutorial (overall goal and concrete objectives, teaching method, and structure with approximate timings)
  • The link between the tutorial and the ICPE topics of interest (a sentence or paragraph)
  • If appropriate, a description of past versions of the tutorial. This should indicate where the tutorial was given (venue, date, number of attendees ) and how it will be modified for delivery at ICPE 2023
  • Audio-visual and technical requirements

Authors of accepted tutorial proposals are expected to prepare a set of slides to be distributed to participants, including a bibliography pertinent to the tutorial. The camera-ready set of slides should be submitted as a PDF file with two slides per page. Proposers of accepted tutorials will be given the opportunity to also submit a tutorial paper, which will appear in the conference proceedings. The content of a tutorial paper must be on the material covered by the tutorial and must not exceed 4 pages using the ACM format. Authors are required to adhere to the ACM Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism as well as to the ACM Policy on Prior Publication and Simultaneous Submissions.

Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of your paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.

Please ensure that you and your co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so you can complete the publishing process for your accepted paper. ACM has been involved in ORCID from the start and we have recently made a commitment to collect ORCID IDs from all of our published authors.
The collection process has started and will roll out as a requirement throughout 2022.
